About the Library

This library was founded through the collaboration of Kobe City and the
residents and business organizations of Rokko Island. The Library will
continue to be operated and maintained by the same group.

The fund for opening the Library was donated by Kobe City, Public Trust
Kobe City Creation, the residents and business organizations of Rokko Island.

The people who will be welcoming you and handling the books are all volunteers.
They have taken a course given by the Kobe City Chuo (Central) Library.

We will do our best to accommodate your book requests, as well as adding new
books to the collection on a regular basis.

Information to Library Users

Obtaining a Library Card

To obtiain a library card, please complete the form and present it with
identification which shows your current address (e.g. Alien Registration Card,
Japanese Health Insurance card, Japanese Driver's License, student I.D.) to
the counter staff. An issued card will be valid for five (5) years. People who
live in Hyogo Prefecture or who come to work or to school in Kobe City can
borrow books after obtaining a library card.

Borrowing a Book

Bring the books and your library card to the checkout counter. You may
borrow five (5) books for a maximum of two (2) weeks. Please return the books
as soon as you have finished with them so that many other people can enjoy
them as well. Your library card will be kept at the library until you return the
books.

Returning a Book

Bring the books to the checkout counter and tell the assistant your name.
Once the books are returned, your library card will then be returned to you.
