About TEN
TEN was established in 1985 based upon the common belief that cultural exchange over the borders is vitally important to promote the understanding of Japan in a true sense. TEN's activities are aimed at promoting mutual understanding between the people around the world and at contributing to the local advancement in culture and diversity. Its current membership stands at about 50. Members include experts and practitioners of pottery, flower arrangement, Japanese harp, tea ceremony, paper cutout, dyeing, calligraphy, and Japanese dance as well as the host family applicants.

Accepting Students
TEN have accepted students from USA, France, Germany, Netherlands, Czechoslovakia, UK, Australia, Switzerland, Canada, and Sri Lanka.
Nurturing Young People
TEN have organized "Junior Japanese Dance Competition in Kagoshima Prefecture" since 1992 in order to encourage young people to have a good knowledge and understanding of Japanese culture and play an active role in the global community.
The competition has grown in area to become "Junior Japanese Dance Competition in Kyushu" and has received high recognitions.

1985 | Establishes International Culture Exchange Association, "TEN," a volunteer group to promote Japanese culture around the world. TEN introduce traditional culture in and outside of the country, accepting, teaching, and helping students from overseas. Yuriko has visited more than 60 places in 16 countries in America, Europe, Oceania, and Asia. She has also accepted more than 20 students from more than 10 countries. |
1992 | Starts Junior Japanese Dance Competition to nurture youth who will lead Japanese culture in the 21st century. Participants come from other schools in addition to Adzuma-ryu. Having noticed TEN's unique activities, NHK Educational TV broadcast the competition for 45 minutes three years on end. Junior Japanese Dance Competition in Kyushu was held 14 times by 2017. |
