(Fig.1) Today's quantum computers are useless, even 4 ~ 11 qubits are so error-prone that they must be replaced by classical computer simulator.
The 1st, 4th, 6th paragraphs of this hyped news (9/12/2024) say
" BQP, a startup.. announced.. simulating Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The milestone was achieved using a hybrid quantum-classical solver" ← this is just a classical computer.
"With continued research, we believe that quantum computing has the potential (= still unrealized ) to revolutionize the way simulations are conducted"
"The study demonstrated the scalability of the HQCFM (= quantum classical finite method ) solver, by simulating a non-linear time-dependent Partial Differential Equation (PDE) from 4 to all the way to 11 qubits." ← just 4 ~ 11 qubits are far from millions of qubits required for a practical quantum computer.
↑ This research paper ↓
p.4-Fig.3 shows almost all calculations must be done by ordinary classical computers (= blue ).
p.4-right-1st~2nd-paragraph, the process of HQCFM used 'IBM Qiskit AerSimulator ( GPU enabled)'. ← This is classical computer's simulation of qubits, so No quantum computers were used in this research after all.
This p.1-introduction-3rd-paragraph says
"Qiskit-Aer provides different types of quantum simulators for simulating quantum circuit
computation processes on classical computers" ← using only a classical computer, No quantum computer
As a result, contrary to the media-hype, today's (hybrid) quantum computer's simulation of some physical phenomena is conducted only by ordinary classical computers.
Quantum computers are useless, No advantage.
