For the past year, athletes in the U.S. have been raising their voices to demand social change. They're calling for an end to racism and discrimination.
- この１年間、アメリカの運動選手たちは声を上げて、社会変革を要求してきました。人種差別や差別一般を終わらせることを求めています。
Now, the owner of Cleveland's baseball team has heard those calls.

The team has been known as the Cleveland Indians since 1915. For years, Native American groups and others have complained that the name is derogatory. From next season, the team will be known as the Guardians.

Owner Paul Dolan says he was inspired to act by the Black Lives Matter movement and the social unrest around it.

The new name comes from a pair of statues on a bridge near the team's stadium. They're known as the Guardians of Traffic.

Last year, the owner of an American football team, the Washington Redskins, announced it would also change names. A new, permanent name has yet to be announced.
