A former top prosecutor in South Korea has officially launched his bid to run for president next year.
- 韓国の前検事総長は、来年の大統領選挙への立候補に向けて努力することを正式に表明しました。
Yoon Seok-youl stepped down as prosecutor general in March. He clashed with the Moon Jae-in administration after leading a corruption probe involving key government officials.
- ユン・ソギョル氏は、３月に検事総長を辞任しました。ユン氏は主要な政府高官を巻き込んだ汚職捜査の指揮をとり、ムン・ジェイン政権と対立しました。
In his news conference, Yoon called the Moon administration "corrupt" and "incompetent."

He accused the government of failing to address skyrocketing land prices and other issues.

South Koreans are set to vote next March, choosing the successor to President Moon. The country's constitution limits the president to serving a single five-year term.

Even before his official announcement, Yoon has been leading polls for the top job. There is growing speculation he will join the conservative opposition People Power Party.
