New ways of using artificial intelligence are being developed in Japan to find signs of cancer in the human body. They do this by analyzing X-rays and images from endoscopes.
- 人体におけるがんの兆候を発見するため、人工知能を使った新しい方法が日本で開発されています。この新しい方法は、Ｘ線や内視鏡画像の分析によってがんの兆候を見つけます。
One such venture is a project by AI developer Preferred Networks, Kyoto Medical Association, and others.
- そのような挑戦的な試みの１つは、ＡＩの開発を手がけるプリファードネットワークスと京都府医師会などによるプロジェクトです。
It's a deep-learning analysis tool that helps diagnose lung cancer from chest X-rays. Abnormal areas are indicated in color.
- それは、胸部Ｘ線検査から肺がんを診断する手助けとなるディープラーニング（深層学習）分析ツールです。異常な部分は色で示されます。
The tool will be used on a trial basis in cancer screenings for the public sponsored by Kyoto Prefecture.
- このツールは、京都府の支援を受けた一般向けのがん検診で試験的に使われる予定です。
Another device analyzes endoscope images from people's colons. It was developed by the National Cancer Center and the electronics firm NEC.
- もう１つの機器は、人間の大腸の内視鏡画像を分析するものです。それは、国立がん研究センターと電子機器会社のＮＥＣによって開発されました。
"When doctors using endoscopes get tired, they lose their concentration. AI can fully support them in such cases."
- 「内視鏡医が疲れてくると集中力が切れてしまう。そんな場合に、ＡＩがしっかり医師たちをサポートしてくれるのです」
When a tumor is found, the device sounds an alert or displays one on the screen.
- 腫瘍が見つかった場合には、この機器が警告音を発したり、画面に表示したりします。
