Yahoo Japan and messaging app provider Line have officially merged, creating a new tech giant.
- ヤフーとメッセージアプリのプロバイダーＬＩＮＥが正式に統合し、新たな大手テクノロジー企業が誕生しました。
The two entities integrated their operations on Monday under SoftBank's subsidiary, Z Holdings, which operates Yahoo Japan.
- ２つの組織（ヤフーとＬＩＮＥ）は、ヤフーを運営するソフトバンクの子会社、Ｚホールディングスの傘下で月曜日に経営統合しました。
The merger has created a new group of about 23,000 employees. It handles various online services, including search engines, social networking, shopping, and finance.
- 統合により、およそ２３,０００人の従業員から成る新しい企業グループが生まれました。この会社は、検索エンジン、ＳＮＳ、通信販売や金融などを含むさまざまなオンラインサービスを扱います。
The group revealed that it has started talks to partly merge its current digital payment services. It intends to fold Line Pay into PayPay by April of next year for users in Japan.

This would give rise to one of the largest smartphone payment services in Japan, with more than 70 million users.

The group also aims to expand business in Asia, making use of Line's customer base in Taiwan, Thailand, Indonesia, and elsewhere.
