A judo hall has opened at a school in Nepal, halfway up Mount Everest, with support from a Japanese nonprofit organization.
- エベレスト山の中腹にあるネパールの学校に、日本のＮＰＯの支援により柔道場が開設されました。
A helicopter and trucks arrived at Khumjung Village last week to deliver 50 tatami mats and 50 sets of judo wear. The village is located at an altitude of over 3,700 meters.
- 先週、ヘリコプターやトラックがクムジュン村に到着し、５０枚の畳と５０着の柔道着を届けました。この村は、標高３,７００メートルを超える位置にあります。
The final stretch of road leading to the school was too narrow for vehicles to pass. So students carried the mats, weighing more than 10 kilograms, on their heads.
- 学校に通じる最後の道は、狭すぎて車両が通過できませんでした。そのため、生徒たちが重さ１０キロを超える畳を頭に載せて運びました。
A former computer classroom was turned into the judo hall. Once the mats were laid, children began practicing their moves.
- 以前はパソコン教室だった場所が柔道場になりました。畳が敷かれると、子供たちは自分たちの動きの練習を始めました。
The nonprofit says it aims to promote international exchange through judo by sending coaches from Japan and inviting students from Nepal.
- このＮＰＯは、日本から指導者を派遣したり、ネパールから子供たちを招待したりすることによって、柔道を通じた国際交流を促進することを目的にしているとしています。
