Healthcare workers in Japan fighting against the coronavirus received an unusual show of gratitude on Friday from the sky.

The Japanese Air Self-Defense Force's aerobatic team staged a flyby over Tokyo as a mark of respect for medical workers.

Six aircraft from the Blue Impulse team flew over hospitals that are treating coronavirus patients.

The Air Self-Defense Force says this is only the third time that the team has staged an aerial display over central Tokyo.
