なぜ、このブイが秘密基地なのだろう？
ますます分からない。千早は考え込んだが、しばらくするとあることに思い当たった。でもまさか。

"How far out are we going, Aya?"
"Oh, we're almost there."
"But I don't see - " In fact, there was nothing besides a vast expanse of ocean in the boat's direction.
"There. See, Chihaya? That buoy."

But, thought Chihaya, how could a buoy be Aya's secret base?
Chihaya was puzzled. She pondered, and after a while something struck her. But no, she thought. That can't be.

英文あらすじ（Synopsis）：

Chihaya's Day Two was a clear and sunny day. Aya, who took Chihaya down to the beach, invited her onto her rubber raft and started rowing out into the sea. Soon after, they were so far out that the beach was nothing more than a thin white band in Chihaya's view. Chihaya was a bit frightened, but tried not to let the worry show on her face.
