良い音楽家は、自分の技を磨くには時間がかかることを知っています。ある日本の芸術家にとって創造の旅は、大陸を越えて８０年近く（の時間）に及んでいます。
At nearly 100 years old, Muroi Mayako is Japan's oldest professional pianist. And she's still thrilling audiences with her renditions of Beethoven's classics.
１００歳近くの室井摩耶子さんは、日本最高齢のプロのピアニストです。そして室井さんは今なお、ベートーベンの名曲の演奏で聴衆を感動させています。
Muroi began tickling the ivories for a living at age 23 in 1945. After years in Europe, she's back in Japan to share her talent and wisdom.
室井さんが仕事としてピアノを弾き始めたのは１９４５年、２３歳のときでした。ヨーロッパで何年も過ごしたあと、室井さんは自らの才能と知恵を伝えるために日本へ戻ってきました。

"I've only begun to understand that to create art I need a deeper connection to my own humanity."
「芸術を創るためには自分自身の人間性とより深くつながることが必要であるということを、私はようやく分かり始めたばかりです」
Even after a century, Muroi says that she needs time to grow, explaining that 200 years would not be long enough to perfect her art.
１００年たったあとでも、室井さんは成長するための時間が必要だと述べており、自らの芸術を完成させるためには２００年でも足りないと説明しています。
