™‚m‚n‚T‚U We shall overcome (The Road to Hope)
The four Gospels gave a brief description of the Cross and mentioned that there were three women, Mary Magdalene, the mother Mary, and her sister Salome.
And they were in deep grief and grasping the word of Jesus.
However, the Bible had described very long before what happened the day through the prophet.
For example, Isaiah said this.
He has no form or comeliness;
And when we see Him,
There is no beauty that we should desire Him.
He is despised and rejected by men,
A man of sorrows and acquainted with grief.
And we hid, as it were,
Our faces from Him;
He was despised, and we did not esteem Him.
Surely, He has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows;
Yet we esteemed Him stricken,
Smitten by God, and afflicted.
But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes, we are healed.
All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, everyone, to his way;
And the Lord has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.
And also, Isaiah described hope, like this.
So, shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
And after the Cross, his disciples John wrote, like this in the Epistle to the Hebrews,i10-10j
By that will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all. (10-19`23)
Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the Holiest by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way which He consecrated for us,
through the veil, that is, His flesh, and having a High Priest over the house of God,
let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and our bodies washed with pure water.
Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.
He described our living way after the Cross. So, it was very much expected that three women grabbed his word and held strong will and hope at the time.
This painting represents these faithful three women and the red glow of evening as Jesus's blood, which has obtained eternal redemption.
