™‚m‚n 47 A Prayer of Hope
This is the painting based on the story of Mary.
She told me of a memory she had of her younger days in Nazareth.
One morning early in the morning she was awakened by a strange sound coming from the sky.
It sounded like innumerable angels playing the harp in the sky.
Her mother told her, gIt was the sound of a wave in the Sea of Galilee."
Since Nazareth was far from the Sea of Galilee, it was an unusual natural phenomenon.
So her mother said, gYou are very blessed, the Lord is with you.hThat is what Mary told me. Thatfs all.
But when I heard the story, I could not get out of my mind the thought of Mary meeting David face to face.
And it was this image that constantly haunted me. But it was an impossible dream.
But I was in search of a reason for her easy acceptance of the angel Gabrielfs words.
So I pray to God. And God helped me. He gave me Psalm 33, the Song of David.
Itfs a song David used to sing, accompanied by a harp. And he sang the praises of God by the troubled Sea of Galilee.
According to the Gospel of Luke, Mary also glorified the Lord. So these songs fit together very well.
So, I found what I wanted to know in singing to Mary. And I was deeply moved.
I thought about how much this beautiful little girl prayed for our salvation about two thousand years ago.
I would be glad if you could glimpse Maryfs will in her prayer.
And thanks be to God. Because we are able to listen to the singing of songs that are far more than a thousand years apart at the same time.
Praises of David and Mary (Beyond the time)
David.
The Lord looks from heaven; He sees all the children of men.
From the place of His habitation, He looks at all the inhabitants of the earth.
Mary.
My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior.
For He has regarded the lowly state of his maidservant;
For behold, henceforth all generations will call me blessed.
For He who is mighty will do a great thing for me. (1)
David.
Rejoice in the Lord, O you righteous! For praise from the upright is beautiful.
Praise the Lord with the harp;
Make melody to Him with an instrument of ten strings.
Sing to Him a new song; Play skillfully with a shout of joy.
For the word of the Lord is right, and all His work is done in truth.
He loves righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.
By the word of the Lord the heavens were made,
And all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.
He gathers the waters of the sea together as a heap;
He lays up the deep in storehouses.
Let all the earth fear the Lord;
Let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.
Mary.
Holy is His name.
And His mercy is on those who fear Him from generation to generation.
He will show strength with His arm; i2j
He will scatter the pride in the imagination of their hearts. i3j
He will put down the mighty from their thrones, and exalt the lowly. i4j
He will fill the hungry with good things, and the rich He sent away empty. i5j
David.
For He spoke, and it was done; He commanded, and it stood fast.
The Lord brings the counsel of the nations to nothing;
He makes the plans of the people of no effect.
The counsel of the Lord stands forever,
The plans of His heart to all generations.
Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,
And the people whom He has chosen as His inheritance.
Mary.
He will help His servant Israel, in remembrance of His mercy,@(6)
Beyond the time, as He spoke to our fathers, Abraham, and his seed forever.
David
Even so, come, Lord!
Mary
Surely Lord is coming quickly.
David and Mary
The grace of our Lord is with you all. Amen!
