mn 37 Lamentation of Ascents
According to the Gospels Luke and Matthew, when Jesus drew near Jerusalem, He saw the city, wept over it, and said,
" O, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together,
as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing!" He knew that Jerusalem would be destroyed by the Roman army.
Also, He knew that Jesus himself should die in Jerusalem. However, his disciples dreamed of winning a victory over the Roman army centered around Antony's fortress in Jerusalem with Jesus as King of Judah.
Both sides' differences in fundamental concepts will lead to their breakup after the Cross.
But Jesus did not weep for that. He wept over Jerusalem. The reason why is in His story. Please remember NO2 Shadow of Christ.
According to that story, Jesus Lord saved Jerusalem from the Assyrian army. However, He said "But you were not willing!"
So, Jerusalem was not willing that Jesus would save Israel's people. Therefore He wept over the city.
I embodied the word of Isaiah in this painting. He said, "Prepare the way of the Lord; Make His paths straight."
Jesus and His disciples were on the straight way to Jerusalem. But each of them had different hopes. Therefore, Jesus opened the way to salvation for gentiles.
@This was happy for us. I thought Judas, who betrayed Jesus, had a very close relationship with Jesus. Because they both felt sorrow in their way at the same time.
