JAPAN'S SPACE AGENCY CHOOSES TWO NEW ASTRONAUTS

Japan's space agency has announced its first two new astronauts in 14 years. They beat out more than 4,000 other applicants who were shooting for the stars.

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, or JAXA, says it selected 46-year-old Suwa Makoto and 28-year-old Yoneda Ayu.

Suwa is the oldest astronaut ever chosen by JAXA. He's based in the U.S. and works with the World Bank. Yoneda is a Tokyo-based surgeon at the Japanese Red Cross Medical Center.(Suwa Makoto)

The agency says they may take part in an international mission to — once again — set foot on the moon.
