In Major League Baseball, Japanese two-way sensation Ohtani Shohei has won this year's Most Valuable Player Award in the American League. He's the second Japanese to receive the honor following Suzuki Ichiro in 2001.

MVP winners in each league are determined through voting by the 30 members of the Baseball Writers' Association of America. It was a unanimous decision for Ohtani.
