Tokyo Games organizers admit they have been struggling to limit food waste. They say over a one-month period starting July 3, officials had to throw away about 130,000 meals.
- 東京大会の組織委員会は、食品廃棄物を制限することに苦戦していることを認めています。大会組織委員会によれば、７月３日からの１か月間にわたって、関係者はおよそ１３万食を廃棄しなければならなかったということです。
The organizers came under fire when it emerged 4,000 boxed lunches went uneaten at the Olympics opening ceremony on July 23.

There have been many similar reports of neglected food at venues.

The organizers say they've since improved the way they make orders. They say they've cut waste to just 10 to 20 percent of the amount in the second half of the Olympics.
