The World Health Organization has added the strain of coronavirus first detected in India to its list of variants of global concern.

Experts say there is some evidence suggesting that the variant is more infectious.

The WHO has now designated four variants of global concern. The others were first confirmed in Britain, South Africa, and Brazil.
