　窓蓋が跳ね上がるようにして開く。それと同時に、大量の水がごうごうと船室に流れ込んできた。奔流のような海水が、千早の顔に押し寄せてくる。目の前が泡だらけになったと思ったとたん、水面が目の高さを越えた。
　千早の身体は水流に揉まれ、くるりと一回転したあと後ろの壁に叩きつけられる。がん、と背中に鈍い痛みが走るのと同時に、肺の空気ががぼがぼと吐き出された。

The porthole's lid flapped open, and masses of seawater gushed in to flood the cabin in its entirety. Torrents swelled and splashed against Chihaya's face, filling her vision with foams and bubbles - and then she found herself totally submerged.

Chihaya's body was tossed up and down, made an awkward somersault, and banged hard against the hull. Chihaya winced at the dull pain in her back, which had squeezed out all of her lungs' air in a stream of bubbles.
