CHAPTER THREE

DIVING GIRLS ILLUSTRATED　15 "YOU SAID YOU'D BE MY BIG SISTER"

　「帰っちゃうんでしょ。東京に」
　「ああ、そのこと」千早は綾に笑顔を向けた。「そう。昨日あれから小母さんにも相談したの。また時化になるかも知れないから、帰るなら来週早々くらいが良いって…」
　「うそつき」綾が、こちらに向き直った。「本当のお姉ちゃんになってくれるって、言ってたのに」
　「本当の…お姉ちゃん？」
　千早ははっとした。そうだ。自分の嬉しさにかまけてしまって、綾がどんな気持ちでいるか、忘れてしまった。

"You're going back to Tokyo, aren't you?"
"Oh, then you've heard about it too," Chihaya smiled. "Yes. I talked it over with Aunt Kasumi last night, and she said I'd better catch a ship early in case a storm hits again - "
"You're a liar," Aya said, her young eyes ablaze with anger. "You had told me you'd be my real sister, remember?"
"A real sister?"
Now it came home to her.Aya was right.Chihaya did promise to be Aya's big sister a few dives back - Aya's jovial laugh was still fresh in her memory. It was probably very rude of her to be so elated about her family reunion that she didn't give a thought about how Aya might feel about it.
