この６曲目では夜空の星の輝きの中に恋人を見つけ出します。夢幻の中でまどろむシーンの音楽として、これほど美しく、そして危うい描写をした音楽をほかに私は知りません。まさに失恋したあまりに壊れてしまいそうな心を描いているのでしょうか。詩の視覚的な美しさも際立っていて、この歌曲集の白眉だと私は思っています。
これはスティーヴンソンの原詩集では６番目の詩です。
