I cling and swing On a branch，or sing Thro' the cool，clear hush of morning，O: - Or fling my wing On the air，and bring To sleepier birds a warning，O: - That the night's in flight， And the sun's in sight， And the dew is the grass adorning，O: And the green leaves swing As I sing，sing，sing， Up by the river， Down the dell， To the little wee nest， Where the big tree fell， So early in the morning，O:- I flit and twit In the sun for a bit When his light so bright is shining，O:- Or sit and fit My plumes，or knit Straw plaits for the nest's nice lining，O:- And she with glee Shows unto me Underneath her wings reclining，O: And I sing that Peg Has an egg，egg，egg， Up by the oatfield， Round the mill， Past the meadow， Down the hill， So early in the morning，O:- I stoop and swoop On the air，or loop Thro' the trees，and then go soaring，O: - To group with a troop On the gusty poop While the wind behind is roaring，O: - I skim and swim By a cloud's red rim， And up to the azure flooring，O: - And my wide wings drip As I slip，slip，slip， Down thro' the raindrops， Back where Peg Broods in the nest On the little white egg， So early in the morning，O ? |
しがみついて揺れて 枝の上に そして歌う 朝の涼しくて澄んだ静けさの中 おお- そして私の翼を投げ出す 大気の中に そして届けるのだ まどろむ鳥たちに目覚ましを おお- 夜は飛び去った そして太陽が見え そして露は草を飾っていると おお そして緑の葉が揺れていると 私が歌う 歌う 歌うとき 川のそばで 谷を下って 小さな巣のところで 倒れている大きな木の とても早く この朝に おお- 跳ね回ってふざけて 太陽の下で 少しだけ そのとても明るい光が輝いているときに おお- 座って合わせるのだ 私の羽を そして編むのだ 藁の編みを 巣の素敵な裏地のため おお- そして彼女は歓喜とともに 私に見せてくれる 彼女の翼の下でくつろいでいる おお そして私が歌っている そのペグを 卵 卵 卵を オーツ麦畑のそばで 水車屋のまわり 牧草地を過ぎて 丘を下って とても早く この朝に おお- 身をすくめて急降下する 大気の中を そして輪を描く 木々の間を通り抜け それから急上昇する おお- 群れと一緒になるために 突風の後を追い 後ろの風が轟音を立てているとき おお- 滑るように泳ぐ 雲の赤い縁を そして紺碧の床まで昇って行く おお- そして私の広い翼は滴る 私が滑る 滑る 滑るとき 雨滴の中を下って 戻るとき ペグに 巣の中のひなたちのもとに 小さな白い卵の上の とても早く この朝に おお- |
