Japan's space agency says it has successfully re-established communication with its lunar surface probe.

The Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, or JAXA, posted on social media on Monday that communication with the probe had been established and operations resumed.

JAXA successfully landed the probe on the moon on January 20, making Japan the fifth country to accomplish the feat.
