Kendama is a traditional Japanese cup-and-ball game, believed to have been first manufactured in Hiroshima Prefecture's Hatsukaichi. The city hosts the game's world championships.

This year, a record 725 people from 12 countries and territories participated. Forty winners of the preliminary round took part in the final on Sunday.

A third-year student at a Tokyo junior high school won the final match. He also claimed the title in 2020.
