Political forecasters at a leading U.S. consultancy have revealed their 10 big political risks for the year ahead.

In the top spot: China's unwavering zero-COVID policy and the turmoil it threatens to unleash on the global economy.

Eurasia Group announced the list on Monday. It cites China's previous successes at containing the pandemic, while saying the fight is now against a much more transmissible variant, with broader lockdowns and vaccines limited in their effectiveness.

The group says China's failure to contain infections could lead to larger outbreaks and more severe lockdowns.
