An international non-profit organization says the number of journalists who are in prison for their work has reached a record high this year.
- 国際的な非営利団体によると、自らの活動を理由に投獄されているジャーナリストの数が今年、過去最高に達したとのことです。
The Committee to Protect Journalists, or CPJ, announced on Thursday as of December 1, 293 journalists were behind bars worldwide. That's the most since records began in 1992.
- ジャーナリスト保護委員会、またはＣＰＪが木曜日に発表したところでは、12月1日時点で293人のジャーナリストが世界で投獄されていたとのことです。これは1992年に記録をとり始めた以来で最多となります。
The CPJ said China imprisoned more journalists than any other country for the third year in a row, with 50 in custody. Next was Myanmar with 26, and Egypt with 25.
