Egyptians have been celebrating the restoration of a promenade that's more than 3,000 years old.

Hundreds of people watched the unveiling of the Avenue of the Sphinxes, also known as the Road of the Rams.

Floats were rolled out at the nighttime event in Luxor in southern Egypt. A dance performance reenacted an ancient festival that celebrated the bounty brought by the annual floods of the Nile River.

The roughly three-kilometer road is lined with hundreds of statues of sphinxes and rams. It links the Karnak and Luxor temples.

Archaeologists have spent the last 15 years excavating and restoring the site.
