Britain is taking a new move toward gender neutrality. One of the country's top music awards is scrapping its male and female categories.
- イギリスは、性的中立性を目指して新たな動きを取ります。イギリス有数の音楽賞の1つは、男性と女性という区分を廃止します。
Organizers of the BRIT Awards say they are launching the non-gendered artist of the year prizes in 2022.
- 「ブリット・アワード」の主催者によると、性別の区分のない年間アーティスト賞を2022年に始めるとのことです。
Some celebrities had requested the change, saying the honors exclude people who don't identify as men or women.
- 著名人たちは、この賞が男性または女性として自認しない人々を排除しているとして、変更を求めていました。
Prizes will be given to the artist of the year and the international artist of the year, replacing the male and female categories.

The organizer says it's important that the awards "continue to evolve and aim to be as inclusive as possible."

The BRIT Awards are not the first to scrap male-female classifications. The Berlin International Film Festival has replaced its Best Actor and Best Actress awards with gender-neutral ones.
