This year's Lasker Clinical Award has gone to two scientists who helped develop the messenger RNA vaccine against the coronavirus.
- 今年のラスカー賞は、（新型）コロナウイルスに対するｍＲＮＡワクチンの開発に貢献した２人の科学者に贈られました。
Katalin Kariko and Drew Weissman are researchers at the University of Pennsylvania. Kariko is also a senior vice president of German biotechnology company BioNTech. They share the 2021 Lasker-DeBakey Clinical Medical Research Award.
- カタリン・カリコ氏とドリュー・ワイスマン氏は、ペンシルベニア大学の研究者です。カリコ氏は、ドイツのバイオテクノロジー企業ビオンテックの上級副社長も務めています。２人は、２０２１年の「ラスカー・ドゥベーキー臨床医学研究賞」を共同受賞します。
They were honored for discovering a process that enables the use of a new therapeutic technology based on the modification of messenger RNA.

This breakthrough enabled BioNTech and U.S. drug giant Pfizer to jointly develop the highly effective COVID-19 vaccine in a short period of time.

Lasker Awards are considered to be the most prestigious medical prizes in the United States. Many past recipients went on to win Nobel Prizes.
