Japanese officials are working hard to speed up coronavirus vaccinations as the number of patients in serious condition hits record levels in the capital.
日本の政府関係者は、首都で重症患者の数が記録的な水準に達する中、新型コロナウイルスのワクチン接種を加速させようと懸命になっています。
On Friday, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government opened a vaccination site in downtown Shibuya Ward.
金曜日、東京都は繁華街の渋谷区にワクチン接種会場を開設しました。
At first, it was available to young people on a first-come, first-served basis. But after people lined up for more than a kilometer, officials changed to a lottery system.
初めは、若者が先着順で利用できる会場でした。しかし人々が１キロ以上並ぶと、都の職員は抽選制に変更しました。
On Sunday, people lined up from early in the morning. Officials say there was less confusion, but around 1,300 people still showed up for the 354 doses.
日曜日、人々は早朝から列を作りました。都の職員によりますと、混乱は減ったものの、３５４回分の接種を求めて約１,３００人が来場したとのことです。
