Canada's Cirque du Soleil Entertainment Group says it's filing for bankruptcy protection and cutting thousands of jobs after the coronavirus pandemic forced it to suspend its famous circus shows.
- カナダのシルク・ドゥ・ソレイユ・エンターテインメント・グループは、新型コロナウイルスの世界的な大流行で有名なサーカスのショーを一時停止することを余儀なくされたことにより、破産保護の適用を申請し、何千もの人員を削減すると発表しました。
The group said on its website on Monday it had requested protection from creditors under Canada's Companies' Creditors Arrangement Act as it looks to rebuild.

The Montreal-based company's shows are popular across the world. But it suspended performances from March due to the pandemic.

The company did not reveal its liabilities. But Canadian public broadcaster CBC says the firm has about 900 million dollars of debt.

The company says it plans to cut about 3,500 workers as part of its restructuring.
