Remembrance without action is not enough.
| As we commemorate the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, we remember not |
| only what happened 81 years ago, but what must never happen again. We honour the wit- |
| ness of the Hibakusha and the Hibakujumoku, and renew our commitment to a world where |
| nuclear weapons have no place. |
| That is why Pax Christi International, together with the Hiroshima Coventry Club, is carrying |
the "Lanterns for Peace: From Hiroshima to the world" campaign.
| Inspired by the tradition of floating lanterns, each lantern becomes more
than an act of remembrance: |
it is a call to reject the false promise of security through nuclear weapons
and to build a just peace.
Each lantern carries a memory.
| Each lantern carries a promise. |
