コベントリー会の恵美子さんは、アビンドンの友人を訪ね、色々な平和イベントに参加しました。 Emiko, a Hiroshima Coventry Club member, visited her friends in Abingdon, and joind some peace event.

午後7時　ヒロシマ・ナガサキ追悼ビジル　7:00pm Vigil for Hiroshim Nagasaki Remembrance 広島市長からのメッセージを代読するアビンドン市長 Abingdon Mayor , reading a message from the Mayor of Hiroshima.	アビンドンの人たちに灯籠の意味などを話す恵美子さん。 Emiko speaks about the meaning of lantern floating.	キャンドルフロートを待つ人たち。 Peaple waiting for the Candle Float.


午後8時　町の中を流れる美しいテームズ川でキャンドルフロートが行なわれました。 8:00pm The Candle Float was held on this beautiful Riv.Thames, running through the city	最初の灯籠は、恵美子さんとアビンドン市長が一緒に流しました。 The first lantern was floated by the Mayor of Abingdon and Emiko.	キャンドルフロートに集まったアビンドンの人々 Abingdon People gahered for the Candle Float


テームズ川を流れる灯籠とキャンドル Touro lanterns and candles, floating on the Riv.Thames		終了後、灯籠とロウソクを回収するピースグループの人たち。 Lanterns and candles were cleared after the event by the Peace Group.

8月6日、アビンドン・ピース・グループは、81年前の広島への原爆投下を追悼するため、セント・エセルウォルド・ハウスの庭にある「平和の柱」の周りで厳粛な式典を執り行いました。

アビンドン・オン・テムズ市長が広島市長からのメッセージを読み上げましたが、両市長とも「平和首長会議」のメンバーです。浦田恵美子さんが折った「平和の折り鶴」が参加者に手渡された後、広島の生徒たちが絵を描いた灯籠がテムズ川へと運ばれました。

日没とともに「オックスフォード・シー・グリーン・シンガーズ」が平和を願う歌を歌う中、それらの灯籠が川面に流されました。

The Abingdon Peace Group held a solemn ceremony round the peace pole in St Ethelwold's House garden on 6 August to commemorate the dropping of the atom bomb on Hiroshima 81 years ago.

The Mayor of Abingdon on Thames read out a message from the Mayor of Hiroshima - both of them Mayors for Peace.

Peace cranes folded by Emiko Urata were given out, then the lanterns painted by schoolchildren in Hiroshima were carried to the River Thames and floated as the sun set and Oxford Sea Green singers sang for peace.
