トマス・モーリーの曲が葬送では使われ、その欠けた部分をパーセルが埋めたもののようですが、後世の人がパーセルが別の機会に書いた同じ詩につけたアンセムを転用してすべてパーセルの曲として再構成したものです。現在ではこの形で演奏されることが多いようです。
