ヴォーン=ウイリアムズが歌曲集にしているスティーブンスンの「旅の歌」の中の一篇ですが、ヴォーン＝ウィリアムズは自分の歌曲集には取り上げていないようです。あの歌曲集の剛毅なところとはちょっと違った、クィルターお得意の甘く蕩けるような抒情性がこの思索性に満ちた詩と溶け合ってなかなか素敵な聴きものになっています。
