五月を待ちながら 楽しいそぞろ歩きを待ちながら、 匂いの良いサンザシの茂みや スイカズラが交互に 香り立つ湿った道を ああ！私の心は待つことに疲れてしまった 五月を待ちながら ああ！私の心は憧れに病んでいる 五月への憧れに 部屋から逃れ出たいという憧れに 爽やかで血色の良い若い顔を求めて そしてその持ち前の何千もの魅力に この夏の日の ああ！私の心は焦がれている 五月に焦がれながら ああ！私の心はため息と共に痛む 五月を求めるため息と 彼らがきっと戻ってくることを求めるため息と 夏の光線が焼け付くとき 枯れ 枯れ行く花たちを望みながら 冬に横たわって ああ！私の心はため息と共に痛む 五月を求めるため息と ああ！私の心は鼓動と共に痛む 五月を求めて鼓動しながら 海辺の波を求めて鼓動しながら あるいは水を愛する柳を そこで笑いながら すすり泣きながら 川の流れは滑り去って行く ああ！私の心は 私の心は鼓動する 五月を求めて鼓動するのだ 待っているのだ 悲しく 落胆し 疲れはて 五月を待っている 春は無駄な警告と共に過ぎて行く 月明かりの夜 太陽で明るい朝 夏はやってくる なおも暗く わびしく 人生はなお色あせて行く 人は永遠に疲れ 疲れて行くのだ 五月を待ちながら |
初期の作品ですが、染み入るような美しいメロディに満ちていてけっこう良く歌われます。ソロよりも合唱に編曲されての方が多いかも知れません。1849年の作曲
