フォスターの歌曲を収録したCDではたいてい男女のデュオで歌われている曲です（と言っても私の知っているのは２種類しかありませんが）。合唱曲にしてもとても映えるように思うのですがまだそのスタイルで歌われたのを耳にしたことはありません。傑作が続出しているこの時期(1852)にふさわしいしみじみと美しい曲です。作曲者自身の歌詞もなかなか素敵ですね。
