Those evening bells! Those evening bells!
Many a tale their music tells
of youth，and home and that sweet time，
When last I heard their soothing chime.

And so 'twill be when I'm gone;
That tuneful peal will still ring on
while other bards shall walk these dells，
and sing your praise，sweet evening bells.

 あの夕べの鐘！ あの夕べの鐘よ！
たくさんの物語をその響きは告げる
若き日の　そして故郷とあの懐かしき時を
最後に私が聴いたとき　あの心地よい鐘の音を

そしてそのままなのだろう　私がいなくなった後も
あの豊かな響きはなおも鳴り続けるのだろう
別の吟遊詩人たちがこの谷間を歩くときには
そして歌うのだ　お前を讃えて　すばらしき夕べの鐘よ
