This 7MHz CW Transceiver is based on following article. I made the TRX in 1995.
An Optimized QRP Transceiver for 7MHz
QRP CLASSIC (Page 119, ISBN: 0-87259-316-9)
ARRL FIRST EDITION (1992 2nd printing)
The book is already out of print. You can see in Amazon.com)

The above article was from 1993/ARRL Handbook Chapter 30 Page 37 and original article was in follows.

An Optimized QRP Transceiver for 7MHz
          Roy Lewallen W7EL, QST August,1980

Interest point is VFO which is used Hartley circuit and keep good stability like less than 200Hz warm-up dirt. There are several guideline to achive those dift characterristic, e.g. "Anneal a troidal coil" by water boiling.

You can see my result for warm-up drift performance as in here.

Forty-9er (49er) (NorCal project)

This CW Transceiver is introduced in QRPp which is a journal of the Northen California QRP Club (NorCal) in 1996. Then NorCal introduced the TRX kit.

This TRX is designed by Wayne Burdick, N6KR for 40 meter(7MHz) and 9V battery operation. Name became from famous professional footbal team San Francisco 49ers.
The circuit is very simple for Mixer (at RX) and OSC(at TX) using one NE602 for both purpose.

SST (It is not a kit version)

The SST was introduced in QRPp as follows.

The SST: A Simple Superhet Transceiver For 40 Through 20 Meters
     by Wayne A. Burdick, N6KR
          QRPp Volume V, Number1 Spring 1997
Journal of the Northen California QRP Club

You can see
my circuit which is modified slightly.
TRX is super heterodyne type and IF is 4MHz with three Xtal ladder filter.

Kit is avairable not from NorCal but from Wilderness Radio as "The SST Kit".

The 38 Special
is in QRPp as below.

  The 38 Special" Transceiver
     by Ori Mizrahi-Shalom, AC6AN
QRPp Volume IV, Number4 December 1996
Journal of the Northen California QRP Club

The 38
Special is based on 49er and modified for 30 meter and 8V battery operation. One of an improvement point is RX performace for weak signal. The circuit is very simple using some IC's not only analog IC but also "Digital IC's", e.g. 74HC240 for TX power stage and CD4066 for TRX function change.
You can see cover sheet of kit manual as here and recognize a gun. Yes, 38 Special is a revolver (picture is TAURUS).
