The Tokyo-born pianist Yukiko Sawa began studying at the age of four,continuing
her training at the Musashino Akademia Musucae in Tokyo.While attending
the Czech pianist Josef Páleníček's class at the Kusatsu International
Music Academy in 1984 she became greatly impressed by his Czech music.
She later received a scholarship from the Czechoslovak government and studied
with prof. Palenicek at the Prague Akademy of Performing Arts 1988-1990.
While studying in Prague she gave recitals there and in Pilsen. Subsequent
concert tours in 1995 and every year from 1997 to 2001, have brought her
to Prague and other cities of the Czech Republic. In 1998,She recored her
first CD titled [Leos Janacek pianoworks] in Prague. In autumn 2002, she
is going to play at Cervene kostelec and Jicin in Czech Republic and record
the second CD. Also she is teaching piano playing in Seitoku University. |
