Hofuku-ji Temple belonging to the Zen sect

"A life creed" I sit down calmly once all day long, and let's fix a body and breathing and a heart. I am awakened to human preciousness, and one's life will prize life of another person, too. I thank for oneself who is kept alive, and let's acquire a line of repayment of kindness.

Whole view of a temple There is Hofuku-ji Temple belonging to the Zen sect at a position of about 3 kilometers northing from Tomei Expressway Shimizu interchange.  

 It is the very quiet place where it is green, and an area is surrounded, and atmosphere is clear, and farm products of four seasons are harvested.  

 There is an institution of "J-STEP" that a Japanese representative lodges together of soccer near. In addition, there is "Yamakiri golf garden" in the neighbor of a temple. 

 A Nyoirin Kannon image goes to the center of the main hall of a Buddhist temple front, and a Gongen image goes to the left and enshrines Bodhidharma image in the right side each.


History

 Priest creator erected the Hofuku-ji Temple belonging to the Zen sect now in Keicho 10 before about 400 years. According to former officer of my temple, priest creator seems to be the priest who came from China.However, others of his year of a person's death are really unknown. 

 In about 1715, fate of teaching of Buddha gradually became clear since the age of charges of the fourth generation chief bonze of a temple. 

 I studied under the ninth generation chief bonze of a temple of Daijo-ji Temple belonging to the Zen sect, and subsequently, in about 1750, the fifth generation chief bonze of a temple did the main hall of a Buddhist temple rebuilding, and, in my temple, it was it widely with the place where a believer was converted to preciousness o of teaching of Buddha. 

 The sixth generation chief bonze of a temple had broken off succession of the Buddhistic doctrine, but I felt pity for this achievement having become null and void, and the tenth generation chief bonze of a temple studied under the 14th generation chief bonze of a temple of Daijo-ji Temple belonging to the Zen sect again in 1859, and an achievement of the fifth generation such chief bonze of a temple got a qualification of law system place again.

 Originally it was an end temple of Seiken-ji Temple in Shizuoka, but I become an end temple of Myoshin-ji Temple in Kyoto, and Hofuku-ji Temple belonging to the Zen sect reaches it at the present in 1890.

A principal idol It is a wooden sedentary image of 0.6 meters, but an author is missing.

 I make the right foot a drawn up knee and sit and put the right hand on cheeks and do an aspect of speculation and the left hand hangs down and controls the ground.Nyoirin Kannon is common, and there are many sedentary images of one face and six elbows, but a principal idol of my temple is a thing of two elbows.I decorate it with a crown when I tie up hair in a mass highly, and a decoration of string of beads shakes on a chest. 

 I let countenance of an image is tolerant and feel a human being thing.The trout which I get rid of every pains of all creatures, and should give profit.

The main gate of a Buddhist temple When family of Mr. Genzaemon Ota of Yamakiri village was going to die out now about 1 centuries ago, I bought a rear gate of the mansion and believer of Hofuku temple belonging to the Zen sect donated it. It is the current main gate of a Buddhist temple.

 We did not have the main gate of a Buddhist temple in the past when we had this donation.

 It is a nature of a rock statue of 0.9 meters.  

 I say that I wash a dust of a heart with "Sensin" and drop it, that I inquire into annoyances of a heart and leave and cleanse it, that I reform myself. It is usual to cleanse a heart, and it is necessary to keep it in mind.  

 I hear that it was conceived strangely when the woman who is not blessed with children pats a head of this stone statue.

A guardian deity of children of a mountain pass

 The reason why guardian deity of children has been believed in is because it has been said that there is mysterious power such as child care, an easy delivery, power to moderate pains of the world, power to give nobody divine favor. 

 It is assumed that I was accompanied by the name of "JIzo" by it being had a heart to love people endlessly so that power to bring up all things is had built-in now in the earth of a certain world. 

 With a flow of the times, it is said that it is a guardian deity of children that save pains of the babies who died the infant whom relation of parent and child left for thinly again not to go out of the interior of the womb of mother. 

 A country woman feels pity, and a guardian deity of children of Yamakiri village is handed down many children who lost its life to the flooding of Yamakiri River and death by drawing by having a swim in a river again at the middle of the Edo era by a flood when I put a donation and erected it. 

 Even if it was a person of Aoki or donation of a person of Dohi, it began to be said and, for the another view, erected it near a river, but because fear of being washed away appeared by a flood of Edo last years, I moved to halfway up a mountain of a mountain and watched a Yamakiri village. 

 I maintained it in Yamakiri village and managed it, but a postwar building ached, and I moved it to a Jizo shrine of the precincts of our temple in 1972, and it was put afterwards by convenience of traffic being bad. 

 Then it was moved to a current place again in March 1997 by an opinion having please appeared when convenience of traffic improved and began the chief priest as of, and returned guardian deity of children from many people to an original place. An excellent Jizo shrine was rebuilt by a donation sent by a lot of all of you in a district.  

 I recall mysterious power of a guardian deity of children once again and I prize the history of Yamakiri village and want to pray so that an area is peaceful.

 A state of superannuation was more and more serious, and, for about 370 years, reconstruction was pressed the old main hall of a Buddhist temple which I put repair on repair and maintained for immediately by a disaster of several degrees since it was erected.  

 I began contribution from a believer and got local residents' association, cooperation of a farm co-op and did a new plan of the main hall of a Buddhist temple of a building with reinforced concrete in July, 1972, and the completion of construction began in October, the same year and invited completion in June, 1974.
