Dear customer service supervisor,
I think I want to challenge again to the
Matterhorn in July next year.
But I have a distrust against yours guide(Zermatt
Alpin Center).
We arrived at 6:10 to Solvay Nothutte from
the Hornlihutte to 3:40 on July 24 of this
year.
We took 2 hours and 30 minutes including
the order latency to get there.
So, the guide of your side abandoned the
work.
Then I was forced to descent reluctantly.
The guide said a abuse "You take 6 hours
to descend" to reason.
However, Japanese with guide the party of
behind us rose to the summit.
(They arrived in just 6:20 to Solvay Nothutte
starting with 10 minutes late from us. It
was same time.)
(He was same customer of Zermatt guide union.
What's the difference?)
It is unfair that judging is different from
by the guide.
That day the weather was also good ice ax
unnecessary.
Normally, You should repay necessary half
of the guide fee.
I have some question.
1) I want to know the guide name with me
at that time because I forgot.
2) 2 hours 30 minutes arrival time to the
Solvay hut is not a fast time,
but I think that it is not disqualification
time. What do you think?
3) How thing is a clear condition or time
limit of Zermatt guide union?
Best regards,
Yusaku Kamo

Hi Yusaku
thank you very much for your e-mail.
The name of your guide was Guy-Robert May.
In fact it is like this. You should reach
the Solvay hut within 2 hours. If you have
longer to the Solvay, the
guides usually need to turn around.
From the Solvay up to the Summit people need
normally again 2-2.5 hours and from the summit
to the
Hornli hut again you need 4, hours.
The guide and also the guest can’t climb
in a good concentration from more than 8
hours. In every normal
job you have to work for 8-9 hours and it
is the same for the mountain guides.
If you are on the mountain for too long,
it can be dangerous for you and the guide.
You will be tired after
8 hours of climbing and the chance for accidents
are much higher.
So you need to understand why he turned around.
If you had 2.5 hours to the Solvay hut, then
you probably
need again 2.5 hours to the summit, this
is already 5 hours of climbing, then the
hardest part is the way down!
If you need again 4.5 hours to climb down
you are on the mountain for 9-10 hours, which
is too long.
If you want to book a guide for next year,
please contact us in May 2016 again.
Kind regards and have a nice day.

Dear Angelina Schwery
Thank you reply mail early.
"When is anytime more than 2 hours,
it is sentenced to retreat"
This is the opinion of the Zermatt guide
union.
If it is, You should say customer it before
climbing ahead of time clearly.
kind regards.
