屋根の上の空は 静かでやさしい 一本の木が屋根の上 項垂れている 熱さで 鐘が 青空の向こうから 眠たげに響いてくる 一羽の鳥が 青空の向こうから 悲しげに歌う ああ 神様！人生はここにある シンプルで美しい 喧騒のつぶやきはここにある 空の中に失われた なぜお前は泣くのだ おお心よ 涙にくれて？ お前は何をしたのだ おお心よ お前の過ごした年月に？ |
ヴェルレーヌの有名な詩、ランボーを傷つけて牢獄に入っていた時のものです。英語にして音楽がつくとずいぶんと趣の違うものが出来上がりました。ただ背景を知らずとも実に美しい音楽。管弦楽伴奏にしたものをレスリー・ギャレットが歌った録音が聴けました。
