アメリカには讃美歌＆聖歌専門の作曲家というのも需要があるからでしょうか今でもいるようです。１９世紀に活躍したロウリーもそんなひとり。今でもいくつかの歌は歌われているようです。圧倒的にコープランドも取り上げた「At the river」が有名なのですが、これも歌い継がれているようで、面白いのは讃美歌風のスタイルではなくて、ギターを抱えてカントリー調に歌う、というのがYoutubeにいくつかアップされています。それが興味深かったので取り上げてみることにしました。シンプルな詩とメロディですがそれが心に染み入ります。
