女声のソロに続き、バリトンのソロによる歌が入ります。こちらもしみじみと美しく諦めの境地を歌います。ダウソンの詩のタイトルはExile（亡命者）、海の彼方へと亡命してしまった相手のことを思っているのでしょうか（本人は昔なつかしい海岸をそぞろ歩いているようなので残された方の立場なのでしょう。あるいはその海岸自体が幻想で、主人公自身が亡命者なのかも知れませんが）
