あまり知られていないのが非常に惜しいですが、フォスターにも魅力的な子守唄があります。1862年という南北戦争たけなわの時期の作品ではありますが、安らぎに満ちた穏やかな３拍子で子供を眠りに誘う素敵なメロディ。これもアイルランドの伝統的な音楽のようでじっくりと演奏すると実に素晴らしいです。ポピュラーのアーティストが彼の作品を多彩にトリビュートした魅力的なCDではブルーグラス風のアレンジで、弦楽３重奏（マーク・オコーナー、エドガー・メイヤー、ヨ・ヨー・マ）をバックにアリソン・クラウスの歌ったこの歌は息を呑むほどの美しさでした。
