1939年の映画「駅馬車」でアップテンポのリズムで軽快に演奏され、日本では小林幹治の詞「あの村 この町を 今日また あとにして」と旅行く苦労はあるものの悲しみの翳りもない歌として知られるようになっていますが、実はご覧のようにけっこう悲しい歌なのでした。本場のカントリーシンガーなどが歌うときはですからテンポもスローでしんみりとした味を出すことがほとんどです。
