Crabbed age and youth cannot live together: Youth is full of pleasure，age is full of care; Youth like summer morn，age like winter weather; Youth like summer brave，age like winter bare. Youth is full of sport，age's breath is short; Youth is nimble，age is lame; Youth is hot and bold，age is weak and cold; Youth is wild，and age is tame. Age，I do abhor thee; youth，I do adore thee; O，my love，my love is young! Age，I do defy thee: O，sweet shepherd，hie thee， For methinks thou stay'st too long. |
偏屈な老人と若者は一緒に暮らすことはできぬ： 若者は喜びに満ち、老人は悩みで一杯だ 若者は夏の朝のよう 老人は冬の天気のよう 若者は夏の華やかさ 老人は冬の裸 若者は元気に満ちており 老人の息は短い 若者は機敏で 老人はヘたっている 若者は熱く大胆で 老人は弱く冷たい 若者は荒々しく 老人は従順だ 老人よ 私はお前が嫌いだ 若者よ 私はお前に焦がれる おおわが愛するものよ 私の愛は若いのだ！ 老人よ 私はお前を拒む：おお愛らしき羊飼いよ 急げ 私が思うに お前は長く居すぎるのだ |
