Say，heart，what will the future bring， To happier men when we are gone? What golden days shall dawn for them， Transcending all we gaze upon? These things shall be! A loftier race Than e’er the world hath known shall rise With flame of freedom in their souls And light of science in their eyes. They shall be gentle，brave and strong， Not to shed human blood，but dare All that may plant man’s lordship firm On earth and fire，on sea and air. Nation with nation，land with land Unarmed shall live as comrades free; In ev’ry brain and heart shall throb The pulse of one fraternity. They shall be simple in their homes， And splendid in their public ways; Filling the mansions of the state With music and with hymns of praise. In aisles majestic，halls with pride， In gardens，in groves and galleries， Manhood and age and youth shall meet To grow by converse only wise. New arts shall bloom of loftier mould， And mightier music thrill the skies And ev’ry life a song shall be When all the earth is paradise. These things，they are no dreams，shall be， For happier men when we are gone: Golden days for them shall dawn， Transcending all we gaze upon. |
言え 心よ 何を未来はもたらすのだろうか より幸福な者たちに われらが去ったときに？ いかなる黄金の日々が明けるのだろうか 彼らに われらが見つめているすべてを超越して？ これらのことはきっと！より高貴なる民が これまで世界が知っていたよりも 立ち上がるだろう 自由の炎と共に 彼らの魂のうちの そして科学の光と 彼らの瞳のうちの 彼らはきっと優しく 勇敢で強力なのだろう 人間の血を流すのではなく あえて 植えるのだろう 人類の主権を 大地と火に 海と大気に 国家と国家が 土地と土地とが 武装せずに生きるのだろう 自由な同志として すべての脳と心臓のうちで鼓動するのだろう 一つの友愛の脈動が 彼らは純朴なのだろう 彼らの家にあっては そして優秀なのだ 公的な場にあっては 国家の邸宅を満たすのだ 音楽と賛美の聖歌で 堂々とした通路を 広間を誇りで 庭を 木立やギャラリーを 壮年と老人と若者が出会うのだろう 成長するために 賢明な会話のみによって 新しい芸術は花咲くだろう より高貴な土壌に そしてより強大な音楽が鳴り響くだろう 空に そしてすべての生に ひとつの歌はなるのだろう すべての地上が楽園であるとき これらのことは 決して夢ではなく きっと実現するだろう より幸福な者たちのために われらが去ったとき 黄金の日々が彼らのために明けるのだ われらが見つめているすべてを超越して |
