DEMAND FOR VINYL RECORDS SURGES

People here in Japan are buying fewer CDs these days. That's largely because they're getting more music online. But companies in the industry say demand for vinyl records is soaring.
- ここ日本の人々は最近、ＣＤを買うことが少なくなっています。それは主に、人々がインターネット配信で音楽を入手することがより多くなっているからです。しかし、音楽業界の会社によると、レコード盤の需要は急増しています。
Officials at the Recording Industry Association of Japan say record production has grown 12-fold in 10 years.
- 日本レコード協会の関係者によれば、レコード生産は１０年で１２倍に増えたということです。
They say the value of record production fell to about 1.5 million dollars in 2010, but it picked up to about 18.6 million last year. That's partly because more and more artists are releasing new music on vinyl.
- 日本レコード協会の関係者によると、レコード生産額は２０１０年には約１５０万ドルまで落ち込みましたが、去年は約１,８６０万ドルまで回復しました。その理由の１つは、ますます多くのアーティストたちが新曲をレコード盤で発売しているからです。
Three years ago, a company in the Sony Group restarted vinyl record production after a gap of 29 years. Orders have doubled since last year. A company representative says the factory is running around the clock.
- ３年前にソニーグループの企業は、２９年の隔たりを経てレコード盤の生産を再開しました。注文は去年から倍増しました。企業の代表者によれば、工場は２４時間体制で稼働しています。
And another record manufacturer is also operating at full capacity. A company representative said the time they need to fill orders has grown from one month to as many as four.
